Support - Moon Guide

Moon Guide is designed to work offline and without an account. Here are answers to the most common questions.

The Moon is not where the finder points

Move away from metal objects, vehicles, speakers, and magnetic phone accessories. Aim the rear camera toward the sky and move it in a figure eight if iOS requests compass calibration. The finder displays heading accuracy when the compass signal is uncertain.

My location is unavailable

Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Moon Guide and allow location while using the app. Approximate location is enough for normal Moon guidance. You can also choose a saved place or enter coordinates manually.

Why “above the horizon” does not guarantee visibility

Moon Guide calculates astronomical position. Clouds, haze, terrain, buildings, trees, and nearby obstructions can still block the real Moon. The app describes visibility as an assessment, not a promise.

How do I delete saved location data?

Moon Guide stores the selected observation location only on your device. Use “Clear saved place and reminders” to delete the private shared widget record and observing preferences. Keychain data may survive app deletion or reinstallation. You can also replace the saved location at any time from the location menu.

Widgets and reminder scheduling

Choose a saved observing place before adding a circular or rectangular Lock Screen widget. iOS decides when to refresh it. Open Moon Guide if it shows stale data or setup. Exploring a future date does not change the widget's live place.

Enable reminders in Moon Guide Settings, where the actual scheduling horizon is displayed. Open the app to extend it. Quiet-hour alerts are skipped, and Focus or system settings can delay delivery. A full-Moon reminder describes phase, not guaranteed visibility. Cancel individual moonrise reminders or disable a recurring preset at any time.

Banner placement and availability

Calendar and Learn reserve a compact banner area above the tab bar so it stays visible while content scrolls. If a request fails, that area collapses. Settings shows advertising status and offers Retry ads; revisiting the screen or returning to the app can also retry a failed request. Consent choices and a verified Remove Ads purchase control whether ads can be requested.

Remove Ads and restore

Remove Ads is a one-time purchase for Calendar and Learn banners. All observing tools, widgets, and reminders stay free. Use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account used to buy it. A pending Apple approval removes ads after the transaction is verified.

Report an issue

Include the version and build shown in Settings, observing place and selected local time, what you expected, what happened, and steps to reproduce it. Share coordinates only if you choose to. For Finder issues, note phone posture and nearby metal or magnetic accessories.
