The basket is a family tradition, not a fixed checklist
Easter greetings, paska, decorated eggs, and food blessing
What to notice
A common Easter greeting is Христос воскрес! The response is Воістину воскрес! These are religious greetings used in the Easter season and among people for whom the context is appropriate.
Паска is a festive Easter bread. A basket taken for blessing may include paska, eggs, meat, dairy foods, horseradish, salt, butter, or other family and regional items. It may be covered with an embroidered cloth.
Pysanky and krashanky are both associated with Easter, but they are not the same technique. The companion card gives that distinction its own focused practice.
Some Ukrainians attend an overnight or morning service; others visit family, maintain selected food traditions, celebrate in the diaspora, or do not observe the religious holiday. The date moves each year and may differ among church calendars.
