What to notice
Use ти for one person in an informal relationship, such as many close friends, relatives, children, or peers who have established that level of familiarity.
Use ви when addressing more than one person. Ви also addresses one person politely or formally—often an unfamiliar adult, a customer, a teacher, an older person, or someone in a professional setting.
Age alone does not mechanically decide the pronoun. Workplace culture, generation, region, personality, power, and the specific relationship all matter.
A speaker may say Давайте на ти—“Let’s use ти”—or ask Можна на ти? The change is best treated as a mutual relationship shift, not a grammar upgrade that one person imposes.
